As part of the PWHL’s Unity Games series, the Black History Celebration honors the legacy, achievements, and ongoing contributions of Black athletes, leaders, and communities who shape the game on and off the ice.
This year’s Black History Celebration logo was created in collaboration with Sophia Yeshi, a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores storytelling, identity, and cultural pride. Her design reflects the strength, creativity, and interconnectedness of Black communities, paying tribute to the past while looking toward the future of the game.
Black history, pride, and excellence extend far beyond any single month–our Black History Celebration is a reflection of that, embodying a sustained commitment to visibility, recognition, and continued progress across hockey.
