The Minnesota Frost Black History Celebration Unity Game is designed in partnership with local Black-led artists, performers, and community organizations to honor Black history, culture, and ongoing contributions to the game of hockey and the broader sport community. Throughout the night, fans will experience music, performance, and storytelling that celebrate Black excellence while creating space for reflection, learning, and community connection. Programming is thoughtfully integrated across the game experience and developed in collaboration with community partners to ensure authenticity, respect, and meaningful engagement.

In-Game Programming

In-Arena DJ Programming
Throughout intermissions, DJ YS will curate and perform live DJ sets featuring exclusively Black artists. This music programming will span eras and genres, amplifying Black voices and setting the tone for a night rooted in celebration, pride, and cultural recognition.

First Intermission Performance
Afrocontigbo will perform live during the first intermission, bringing high-energy Afro-inspired rhythms and musical storytelling to the game-day experience. Their performance celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of Black musical traditions while creating a powerful cultural moment for fans in attendance.

  • Aces

    ACES is driven by a mission to empower youth and expand opportunity through engaging, inclusive, and accessible learning experiences. Guided by a vision of a future where all youth have the power to inspire curiosity, create positive change, and thrive within their communities, ACES centers young people at every stage of its work. The organization is grounded in values of equity, belonging, collaboration, and growth—actively celebrating difference, challenging systemic barriers, and fostering spaces where youth feel seen, heard, and empowered to be themselves. ACES’ theory of change is rooted in the belief that engage + empower = thrive: by engaging youth through innovative, sports-themed curriculum with real-life applications, and empowering them through the development of math and social-emotional skills such as teamwork, confidence, and perseverance, ACES helps young people recognize their innate value and draw on their strengths, motivation, and community support to pursue and achieve their dreams.

  • Mosaic Hockey Collective

    Mosaic Hockey Collective focuses on building an inclusive hockey community that empowers players of color with the skills, resources, and positive experiences needed to grow in the game and give back to it. As of December 2024, Mosaic Hockey Collective is a registered 501(c)(3) organization supporting players from underrepresented backgrounds between the ages of 5 and 18. Currently, more than 250 players representing over 50 communities across the Twin Cities area participate in Mosaic programming. The organization’s name reflects the concept of a “mosaic” — the coexistence of diverse ethnic groups, languages, and cultures within a shared community — reinforcing Mosaic’s commitment to multiculturalism, belonging, and equity within the sport of hockey.

  • Afrocontigbo

    Afrocontigbo is a Minnesota-based cultural organization whose mission is to promote cultural awareness, unity, and wellness through captivating dance performances, transformative workshops, and meaningful community engagement. Since 2006, Afrocontigbo has performed at major festivals and cultural celebrations across the region, including the Flint Hills Festival, Minnesota Fringe Festival, Little Africa, Little Mekong Night Market, Saint Paul Eid Festival, and Igbo Fest. Their work has been featured at prominent venues such as the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, the Harriet Tubman Center Arts & Movement Initiative, and Juneteenth celebrations in Mankato, as well as curated cultural events like Rooted by Maia Productions, Passport to Dance by United Artist Collaborative, and Emume at The Capri. In addition to performances, Afrocontigbo offers in-person dance and fitness workshops at venues including the Center for Performing Arts, Mall of America, Brooklyn Center Community Center, and Brooklyn Park Activity Center. Their classes attract a diverse audience from across the Minneapolis–St. Paul metro area, with approximately 70% of participants identifying as people of color.
