VANCOUVER, BC (October 1, 2026) – The Vancouver Goldeneyes announced today that Delaney Collins has joined the team as its newest assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) season. The Head Coach of Hungary’s National Women’s Team, Collins joins the Goldeneyes with 15 years of experience coaching top players at both the NCAA and international levels.
“We’re so excited to have Delaney join the Goldeneyes coaching staff,” said Head Coach Cara Gardner Morey. “She brings a wealth of knowledge with her experience as an elite defender with the Canadian National Women’s Team and is an extremely creative coach who has worked with national programs in Canada, the United States and Hungary. She is no stranger to finding success on the ice, and we can’t wait to get started on this season together.”
From Pilot Mound, MB, Collins is a former Team Canada defender with five World Championship medals, including three golds. After retiring as a player, Collins spent five years as an assistant coach with Mercyhurst University (2011-16), helping lead the program to two Frozen Four appearances.
Internationally, Collins previously served as an assistant coach for Canada at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship, working with current Goldeneyes Kristen Campbell (2015 silver) and Ashton Bell (2017 silver), then won bronze as head coach of the 2018 squad. Collins started her tenure with the Hungarian national program in 2021-22, serving as assistant coach at four World Championships before moving into the head coach role in 2025. She also assisted on the Hungarian coaching staff at three U18 World Championships. Collins is part of the NHLCA Female Coaches Program and has been a skills coach with the IIHF and the Nashville Jr Predators.
“It is a privilege to join the Vancouver Goldeneyes as we head into our second season,” said Collins. “I’m most excited about the potential of this group of players and the culture that has already been established in Vancouver. Cara will set a high standard from day one, and I look forward to working closely with her and our entire staff as we continue building on the energy and support this team has received.”
As a player, Collins also won national championships with Concordia University (1998) and the University of Alberta (2004), earning back-to-back All-Canada West and First-Team All-Canadian honours during her two seasons with the Pandas. She spent five seasons with the Calgary Oval X-Treme, winning the NWHL championship in 2003 and the WWHL championship in 2006, 2007 and 2008. The fifth overall selection in the first-ever CWHL Draft, Collins played one season with the Brampton Thunder (2010-11) ahead of retirement.
Collins joins a Goldeneyes coaching staff led by Head Coach Cara Gardner Morey, with Alison Izzi at the helm as General Manager. Returning to the coaching staff from the team’s inaugural season are assistant coach Myles Fitzgerald, goalie coach Joey Ali, head strength and conditioning coach Shannon MacAulay and video coach Andrew Boucher.
