OTTAWA, ON (May 13, 2025) – The Ottawa Charge announced today the signing of defender Sam Isbell to a Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Standard Player Agreement (SPA) ahead of tonight’s playoff matchup against the Montréal Victoire. Isbell joins the active roster in place of defender Jincy Roese who has been placed on long-term injured reserve (LTIR) with an upper-body injury.
Isbell, who began the season on the Charge’s Reserve Player List, has had two previous stints on the active roster, most recently signing a 10-day contract on Apr. 25. The 27-year-old from Thunder Bay, ON, has appeared in four games this season.
Roese’s injury has kept her out of the lineup for the first two games of the playoffs. The 27-year-old alternate captain from O’Fallon, MO, led all Charge defenders in scoring during the regular season with 14 points in 27 games.
Puck drop for the first-ever home playoff game in Charge history is tonight at 7 p.m. ET at TD Place. The best-of-five semifinal series is tied 1-1.
