WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Minnesota has won both meetings between these teams this season – 3-0 in Seattle in November and 6-2 in St. Paul in January. No PWHL team has ever beaten another by at least three goals in three consecutive games. Seattle begins their second of three four-game road trips this season, previously going 0-1-0-3 during their first such trip from Dec. 28 to Jan. 11. Their three total road points are fewest in the PWHL.

The Torrent beat the Fleet, 3-2, at home on Wednesday, snapping a four-game losing streak. After their 4-3 loss in Ottawa last Wednesday, this marks the first time the Torrent have scored at least three goals in consecutive games (excluding goals awarded for a shootout win).

Danielle Serdachny’s tiebreaking goal with under four minutes left in the third period on Wednesday was the first game-winning goal of her career. She has three goals in 17 games this season, including one in Minnesota on Jan. 11, surpassing her total of two in 38 games (including playoffs) with Ottawa last season. Her five shots on goal were also a career high.

Mikyla Grant-Mentis scored her first career shorthanded goal on Wednesday and logged a time on ice of 18:39, her highest total in regulation this season. The Torrent have two ‘jailbreak’ goals this season, also scored by Lexie Adzija, which is second behind New York’s three. Minnesota is the only PWHL team without a shorthanded ‘jailbreak’ goal this season.

Alex Carpenter (2G, 2A) and Aneta Tejralová (1G, 2A) are both riding season-high three-game point streaks for the Torrent, tied for the longest active streaks across the league. Carpenter previously posted a record seven-game stretch in 2024-25 and a six-gamer in 2024, both with New York. Neither player has recorded a point against the Frost this season.

Jessie Eldridge has points in three straight road games (4G, 2A), including a goal and an assist in Minnesota on Jan. 11. She’s the only Torrent player with multiple points against the Frost in the season series.

Four goaltenders have played in the first two games of the season series including Seattle’s Corinne Schroeder (3 GA, .880 SV%) and rookie Hannah Murphy (6 GA, .867 SV%) and Minnesota’s Nicole Hensley (shutout) and Maddie Rooney (2 GA, .923 SV%).

The Frost picked up a 3-2 overtime win in Toronto on Sunday and have now earned a point in seven of their last eight games (3-2-2-1). It was Minnesota’s sixth game this season decided in the overtime period (3-3) – no other team has more than four.

Kelly Pannek scored the overtime winner on Sunday with an assist coming from Britta Curl-Salemme. Pannek and Curl-Salemme have recorded a point on the same goal nine times this season, second most of any duo in the league behind Ottawa’s Brianne Jenner and Rebecca Leslie (11). They connected on two of Minnesota’s three goals in the first meeting of the season series against Seattle.

Taylor Heise, who recorded the primary assist on Sunday’s winning goal as part of a three-point performance, also scored a goal and two assists the last time these teams met on Jan. 11. The league’s top scorer is one point away from 20 and would join Carpenter and Marie-Philip Poulin (2024 and 2024-25) as the only players to reach the milestone in consecutive seasons. This is the first time in three regular seasons where Heise has led the Frost outright in scoring.

Sidney Morin picked up a trio of assists in a career-high three-point performance when Minnesota hosted Seattle on Jan. 11. She is the only defender to record any points in the season series, while the Frost blue line is tied for the league lead with 31 points and the Torrent blue line is eighth with 20 points.

Katy Knoll and Grace Zumwinkle both scored two of their season’s six goals against Seattle on Jan. 11. Zumwinkle ranks third on the team with 44 shots on goal, while Knoll carries the league’s highest shooting percentage (26.1) among players with more than six shots. She’s scored on six of her 23 shots.

Minnesota has 18 goals in the first period this season – the only team with more goals in any single period is Ottawa, which has 21 in the third. Seattle’s 17 first-period goals allowed this season are second most in the league (New York, 19).

The Frost have scored six goals twice this season, including Jan. 11 against the Torrent. Seattle and New York are the only other teams to score six goals in a single game this season. Minnesota has scored seven of their nine goals against Seattle at even strength and lead the PWHL with 41 even strength goals, while Seattle ranks last in the category with 27.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

“I really liked the team effort we showed against Boston to come away with a big win. We knew they had played the night before and our group did a good job putting pressure on them and playing the right way together. Now we turn our focus to Minnesota, who are a very dangerous offensive team. We’ll need that same collective effort and commitment to the details of our game if we want to give ourselves a chance to earn points.” – Torrent Head Coach Steve O’Rourke

“We’re really looking forward to having our fans out tonight and being back in front of our home crowd. We’ve had to wait a while to be back, so the anticipation and excitement have been building. Tonight will be about celebrating our gold and the amazing fans who have been cheering us on along the way. We want to build off this momentum and excitement as we continue throughout the rest of the season.” – Frost alternate captain Lee Stecklein

FRIDAY’S GAME: It’s been 44 days since the Frost have played at Grand Casino Arena dating back to Jan. 28 as they welcome the Torrent for the second and final time this regular season. Before the puck drops, fans will have the opportunity to celebrate the league’s 61 players who competed in the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, including the 10 players on Minnesota (6) and Seattle (4) who won gold with Team USA, more than any other PWHL teams. Tonight is the second straight night where the Frost’s gold medalists will be honored at Grand Casino Arena after players performed the ceremonial puck drop at Thursday’s Minnesota Wild game. The Frost are proud to welcome this year’s Herb Brooks Award winners, Ella Bond (St. Paul Academy, Class A recipient) and Megan Berg (Bemidji High School, Class AA recipient), who will read the evening lineup and be recognized on ice during the second intermission. The annual award is presented to a state tournament participant who strongly represents the values, characteristics and traits that defined Brooks, a St. Paul native renowned for coaching the 1980 U.S. Olympic men’s hockey team to gold. Established in 2004, the award recognizes players not necessarily for being the best on the ice, but for their commitment to team, leadership, integrity, work ethic, and dedication to hockey and community. Torrent alternate captain Emily Brown of Blaine, MN, was a 2017 recipient.
