WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
The Fleet have won all three meetings this season (2-1-0-0), holding Seattle to one goal in each game. This will be the third meeting between the teams at Climate Pledge Arena this season – the only other teams scheduled to play three games at the same arena this season are Seattle and Ottawa at TD Place and Ottawa and Toronto at Coca-Cola Coliseum.
Boston beat the Goldeneyes, 2-1, in overtime in Vancouver on Tuesday. The Fleet’s first seven games this season were all decided by multiple goals (6-0-0-1), but each of their last 10 has been decided by one goal or a shootout (3-4-2-1).
The Fleet have won a team record six straight games, tied with the Victoire for the longest streak of the season. A point tonight would tie their team record streak of nine straight games set last season (Feb. 16 to Mar. 18, 2025). Boston’s four straight road wins is the longest such streak in the PWHL this season and their .704 points percentage on the road leads the league.
Shay Maloney scored the overtime winner in Vancouver, her first career overtime goal. Each of her last two goals have been game-winners (also Jan. 14 vs. Toronto). Maloney has already matched her goal total form last year’s rookie season. It was Boston’s first overtime goal in over a year, dating back to Feb. 20, 2025, when Susanna Tapani scored the winner in Ottawa.
Haley Winn scored her second goal of the season on Tuesday, also Boston’s league leading 10th goal by a defender. Five of the Fleet’s 10 goals from rearguards have been scored against the Torrent, including three from captain Megan Keller and one each from Riley Brengman and Daniela Pejšová. Seattle’s two goals from its defense is the lowest total in the PWHL.
Alina Müller has assisted on three of Boston’s four goals scored in two games at Climate Pledge Arena this season. The Fleet alternate captain is tied for third all-time with 31 career assists in 67 games and is four points shy of becoming the 10th player this season to reach 50 career points.
Jamie Lee Rattray, who picked up an assist last night in Vancouver, has been accompanied by her wife Whitney and nine-month-old son Cooper on the Fleet’s road trip that started with a 1-0 win in New York on Mar. 5. The alternate captain’s four shots on goal last night tied a season high.
The Torrent have lost four straight games, all in regulation, tied for the longest streak of its kind in the league this season (also New York and Ottawa). The Torrent have been outscored 16-8 in those four games (14-5 at even strength).
Jessie Eldridge scored a pair of power play goals in Seattle’s loss in Ottawa last week, giving her 51 career points and a five-game point streak (nine points). She has five goals in her last five games after scoring just two in her first 11 games of the season. Eldridge needs just two more goals to match her career high of nine set in 30 games with New York last season. A point tonight would tie the longest point streak of the season.
Julia Gosling has three assists in the Torrent’s last two games, with two primary helpers in Ottawa last Wednesday bringing her career points total to 25 in 46 games. She is the fifth member of the PWHL’s 2024 draft class to reach the quarter century mark for career points. Of the five games this season she’s been held without a point, two were against Boston.
Alex Carpenter has her second point streak of the season with one goal and two assists post-Olympics, including the league’s first-ever penalty shot goal in Ottawa. The Torrent alternate captain has recorded nearly half of her 12 points on the player advantage this season (2G, 3A). She is currently the all-time leader in power play points (7G, 16A) representing 23 of her 55 career points.
Corinne Schroeder has started every game of the season series, accounting for three of her eight total starts for the Torrent. She carries a 1.96 GAA and .927 SV% in those games, compared to a 3.33 GAA and .883 SV% against all other teams. Boston’s Aerin Frankel has two wins with a 0.96 GAA and .961 SV% and Abbey Levy has one win with a 1.00 GAA and .963 SV% in games against Seattle.
Seattle (25) and Boston (26) have scored the fewest goals at even strength in the entire PWHL. The leader is Minnesota (41).
This will be the second time the Fleet have ever played games on back-to-back days. Boston beat Minnesota 4-2 at home on Feb. 16, 2025, before beating New York, 4-1, on the road the next day. This is the second time Seattle is hosting a team that played in Vancouver the day before – the Torrent beat Ottawa 4-1 on Dec. 17, their largest win of the season.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
“This is our first back-to-back of the year, so from our perspective we’re not going to change much. We have a recipe that works and it’s been tried and true so far this season. It’s important for our players to recover, take care of their bodies and get a good night’s sleep. It’ll be a team effort in Seattle.” – Fleet Head Coach Kris Sparre
“Ottawa was a tough loss with the late power play goal against, but I was really proud of the way our team competed the entire night. We gave ourselves a chance to win and that’s the standard we want to bring every game. Now we get the opportunity to come back home and face the league-leading Boston Fleet in front of our fans. It’s going to take that same compete level and strong attention to our team details if we want to earn important points at Climate Pledge.” – Torrent Head Coach Steve O’Rourke
WEDNESDAY’S GAME: The Torrent return to Climate Pledge Arena for the first time since Feb. 27 when they set the U.S. arena attendance record for a women’s hockey game with a sold-out crowd of 17,335 fans. It’s the Fleet’s third and final trip to Seattle this regular season and the fourth of five games in the head-to-head series. Tonight is Seattle’s Women in Sport Night, highlighted by the inaugural Torrent Sports Bra Toss taking place in the second intermission. In partnership with Bras for Girls, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young female athletes and reducing barriers for girls in sports, fans are encouraged to bring a new sports bra to toss onto the ice in support of the initiative. The celebrate tonight’s game, the Torrent are proud to welcome women executives from the WNBA’s Seattle Storm, NWSL’s Seattle Reign, NFL’s Seattle Seahawks, MLS’ Seattle Sounders, and MLB’s Seattle Mariners. After visiting the Seattle Animal Shelter last week, players will be accompanied by dogs from the shelter for their walk-ins tonight to support the organization and raise awareness for adoption opportunities. Fans can learn more about the shelter at their concourse table. It’s also the Torrent’s second bobblehead giveaway of the season with the first 6,000 fans receiving a Cayla Barnes Bobblehead upon entry, while quantities last.
