WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Seattle took the first-ever meeting between these teams, 3-2, in a shootout in a Takeover Tour game in Hamilton, ON. The Torrent registered their highest shot total of the season, outshooting Toronto 39-28, the most the Sceptres have been outshot in a game in Canada this season.
Toronto put 44 shots on target against Vancouver in its last game on Saturday. It was the first time the Sceptres took more than 37 shots on goal in a game in team history. It was also Toronto’s first overtime win of the season, previously losing to Ottawa and to both Montréal and Seattle in shootouts.
Daryl Watts scored the game-winner in overtime against the Goldeneyes. Watts is the only Sceptres player this season with an overtime goal, her second in her career with the team, tied for the most in team history with Sarah Nurse (had two in the 2024 season). She recorded her second of two multi-point games this season against the Torrent (1G, 1A) after tying for the league lead with eight multi-point games in 2024-25 (along with Jessie Eldridge).
Savannah Harmon scored her first goal of the season on Saturday, ending a 53-game goalless drought in the regular season. The Sceptres defender also scored in her last game at Climate Pledge Arena as a member of Team USA in a 4-2 victory over Canada in the Rivalry Series on Nov. 20, 2022.
Allie Munroe is expected to be in the lineup for the first time since suffering a lower-body injury in Toronto’s Dec. 23 game against Ottawa. The alternate captain was activated from LTIR today and has two assists in seven games on the blue line.
Kristin Della Rovere was named to Italy's roster for the 2026 Olympics earlier today. A member of the Sceptres Reserve Player list, the forward is the only PWHL player who will represent the host nation in Milan.
Natalie Spooner is excited to welcome family to the Sceptres’ first game on the West Coast. Her older brother Richard and his family live in Seattle and will bring a group of up to 40 to the rink tonight. Over the 2017 holidays, she was part of a skate with the Western Washington Female Hockey Association.
Seattle’s last victory was its win over Toronto on Jan. 3, having recorded its first three-game losing streak as a team since that game. The Torrent have been outscored 10-4 over those three games, with the 10 goals allowed their most in any three-game span, while their four goals scored are the fewest in any three-game span so far this season.
Seattle has scored 10 goals at home this season, fewest in the PWHL. Meanwhile, Toronto has allowed 10 goals on the road this season, tied with New York for the fewest in the PWHL.
The Torrent have not scored a first-period goal since Jan. 3 (Lexie Adzija) against Toronto and their six goals in the first period is the lowest total in the PWHL. The Sceptres have only scored eight times in the first period all season and haven’t done so in any of their last four games.
Julia Gosling scored the Torrent’s only goal against the Fleet, her fifth of the season to go with five assists, the first Seattle player to reach 10 points. Gosling has 10 points in 11 games with Seattle after recording 10 points (4G, 6A) in 30 games with Toronto last season.
Alex Carpenter scored her fifth goal of the season for her 50th career point the last time Seattle played Toronto. The Torrent alternate captain has been held without a point in each of the last three games since then, matching the longest pointless streak of her career (twice last season with New York).
Mikyla Grant-Mentis recorded an assist for the Torrent in their last game against the Sceptres. The Brampton, ON, native now has seven career points (1G, 6A) against her hometown team, representing more than a third of her 17 points all-time.
By the time the puck drops tonight, the champion of the 47th Women’s Beanpot will have been crowned at Boston’s TD Garden between Harvard and Boston University. A total of 21 current PWHL players have won the renowned NCAA event since 2012, including Toronto’s Jesse Compher and Seattle’s Corinne Schroeder, a member of the Women’s Beanpot Hall of Fame, with the Terriers in 2019 in a win over the Crimson. Della Rovere won with Harvard in 2022.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
“It was nice to get back in the win column with our last game against Vancouver, and there is a lot to build on and I think we are taking steps in the right direction. We’re excited to get another game against Seattle after facing them earlier this month since it was a close battle. We’re ready for another test.” – Sceptres defender Savannah Harmon
“It was good to get home after a long road trip, even though it ended with a tough loss. Our group used that time to reset, recharge, and really focus on areas of our game, and I loved how we responded against a strong opponent. We didn’t get the result we wanted, but we played a complete game in all phases, and that speaks to the growth and belief within this group. Now we get another challenge, and we know what it will take. Playing in front of our fans gives us energy, and tonight is about bringing that same intensity and connection. We also want to send off our Olympians the right way — with a performance our fans can be proud of.” – Torrent Head Coach Steve O’Rourke
TUESDAY’S GAME: Seattle welcomes Toronto for their first of two visits to Climate Pledge Arena this regular season. Tonight marks the team’s first-ever bobblehead giveaway, celebrating goaltender Carly ‘CJ’ Jackson, available to the first 6,000 fans in attendance while quantities last. The Torrent are proud to welcome Kelly Stephens Tysland to tonight’s game to perform the ceremonial puck drop. The Shoreline, WA, native won a bronze medal with the U.S. Women’s National Team at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin, Italy. It’s the Torrent’s final home game before the Olympic break and Olympians from both teams will be recognized. From Seattle, the list of Olympians includes Team USA’s Cayla Barnes, Hannah Bilka, Alex Carpenter and Hilary Knight, Canada’s Julia Gosling, and Czechia’s Aneta Tejralová. Toronto has six players on Team Canada, including Renata Fast, Emma Maltais, Ella Shelton, Natalie Spooner, Blayre Turnbull and Daryl Watts, plus Sweden’s Anna Kjellbin and Sara Hjalmarsson, and Italy’s Kristin Della Rovere. Sceptres staff are also part of Team Canada, including General Manager Gina Kingsbury, Head Coach Troy Ryan, Video Coach Stef Thompson, Goaltending Consultant Brad Kirkwood, Performance Coach Consultant Daniel Tkaczuk, and Equipment Manager Alana Goulden. A total of 61 PWHL players have been named to Olympic rosters, representing 30% of the league.
