WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Minnesota needs at least one point tonight to remain in contention for first place in the PWHL standings. Boston has won two of the three matchups between these teams this season, scoring four goals in each of its wins (Minnesota has just six games with four or more goals against). The Fleet had scored four goals against Minnesota in just two of their 11 meetings prior to this season. The Frost have won three of five regular-season games at the Tsongas Center all-time, including an 8-1 on May 3, 2025, to grab the final playoff spot.
The Frost beat the Sirens, 4-1, at home on Saturday, their second straight win and third straight with a point since losing to the Fleet Mar. 29. Since Jan. 25, the Frost have more games with at least four goals (seven, 7-0-0-0) than they do with fewer than four goals (six, 1-1-1-3). Minnesota has 11 games with at least four goals this season, four more than any other team.
Kelly Pannek picked up an assist on Saturday, giving her 14 goals and 15 assists, and a league-leading 29 points. With one more goal, the Frost alternate captain would become the first player to record 15+ goals and 15+ assists in a season, and her next point will make her the league’s first 30-point player. She is currently riding a four-game point streak (2G, 5A).
Taylor Heise has a four-game goal streak that’s tied for the longest of the season, and one shy of the PWHL record of five set by Sarah Fillier in 2024-25. Her next assist will be the 40th of her career, leading all PWHL skaters with 39 (Alina Müller ranks second all-time with 38).
Britta Curl-Salemme has points in four straight road games, including Denver’s Takeover Tour (2G, 4A). On Saturday she became the fourth Frost player to reach double digits in goals and assists and leads the league with eight multi-point games.
Grace Zumwinkle has recorded three straight multi-point performances (3G, 3A) and tallied her 50th career point Saturday with her second of two assists. She is still looking for her first point against Boston this season.
Lee Stecklein is riding a four-game point streak (1G, 5A) where more than half of her season points (11) have been recorded. The Frost lead the league with 53 points by its defenders, ahead of the Fleet’s 50. Boston leads the league with 14 goals from the blue line, with Minnesota tied for fifth with six.
Boston is undefeated in five games at the Tsongas Center (4-1-0-0), posting back-to-back shutouts at the venue Mar. 21 (3-0 against Seattle) and Mar. 24 (2-0 against Vancouver). The Fleet lost to Montreal, 1-0, at TD Garden Saturday, just the second time they’ve been shut out this season. That is tied with Minnesota for the second-fewest games with zero goals this season. Only the Victoire have been shut out fewer times (1).
Of the four teams currently in playoff position, Boston is the only one without a 20-point scorer so far this season. However, the Fleet have seven players with at least 12 points – Minnesota is the only team in the league with more (eight).
Haley Winn leads the season series with five points in three games (1G, 4A). The rookie defender was tied for the team lead with four shots on goal in Saturday’s loss, her 11th game this season with at least four SOG. Only one other defender has more than six such games, Vancouver’s Sophie Jaques (14). Winn also added a career-high three hits on Saturday.
Susanna Tapani is one of three Fleet players with 18 points this season and has three in her last two games at the Tsongas Center (2G, 1A). The Finnish forward’s next point will set a new career high and give her 50 points all-time. Megan Keller (7G, 11A) and Müller (3G, 15A) are also tied for the team lead. The U.S. defender has three points in the season series (1G, 2A) and the Swiss forward has one assist against the Frost.
Sophie Shirley had her three-game point streak snapped Saturday but has earned three of her career-high nine points against Minnesota this season (2G, 1A). This includes her first career two-goal game on Mar. 29 in a first-star performance.
Both the Fleet and Frost have perfect 5-0-0-0 records when Jill Saulnier (BOS) and Katy Knoll (MIN) find the scoresheet. Only Knoll has produced thus far in the season series with one of her season’s seven goals on Dec. 19 in Minnesota. Boston is 4-1-0-0 when Liz Schepers gets a point, like she did against her former team at Grand Casino Arena on Mar. 29.
Noemi Neubauerová will make her Fleet debut on the blue line after signing a 10-day contract today. The Czech Olympian will be the 63rd player to suit up in the PWHL this season having also competed in Milan. Her last PWHL game was on Mar. 19, 2025, as a member of Toronto.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
“We’re using these last few games of the season to dial in our details and build confidence throughout our entire roster. We know that what matters now is being our best when playoffs come around.” – Frost forward Britta Curl-Salemme
“We know Minnesota has a great group, but I think the focus throughout the season has always been on the Fleet, what we can bring every single day. Whether that’s in practice or a game, this has been a really united group, and I think that translates on the ice. We’re excited for tonight, excited to be back in Lowell and hopefully we put on a good performance for everyone.” – Fleet forward Jill Saulnier
WEDNESDAY’S GAME: The Fleet return to the Tsongas Center for the first time in 22 days and for the first of three home games over the final two weeks of the season to take on the Frost in the fourth and final regular-season meeting between two of the league’s top three teams that have already clinched berths in the PWHL Walter Cup Playoffs. It’s Community Heroes and Boston Strong Night, in recognition of One Boston Day, where every year on April 15 the city remembers the victims, survivors, and first responders of the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, and highlighting how the city has turned tragedy into an enduring tradition of service, kindness, and community resilience. As part of the pregame ceremony, members of the Revere Police Department Honor Guard will present the colors during the national anthem. Fans can also explore activations from Boston Warriors, learn more about the Fleet’s upcoming hockey clinics, and take part in a sign-making station presented by Midea.
