SAN JOSE, CA (June 21, 2026) – PWHL San Jose today announced that goaltender Abbey Levy and forward Kristin Della Rovere have been signed to one-year Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Standard Player Agreements ahead of the team’s inaugural 2026-27 season. The signings are the first for PWHL San Jose as part of the league’s Open Signing Period that began on Friday and allows all 12 teams to continue building their rosters in advance of the 2026-27 campaign.
Levy appeared in three games for the Boston Fleet during the 2025-26 season, earning a 1-1-1 record with a career-high .927 save percentage and a 2.33 goals-against average. The 26-year-old from Congers, NY, spent her first two PWHL seasons with the New York Sirens after being selected in the 11th round (64th overall) in the inaugural PWHL Draft, and has accumulated 13 games of PWHL experience for her career. Levy played three NCAA seasons at Boston College (2020-23) following two seasons at Minnesota State University (2018-20) and earned the Bertagna Award as the top goaltender at the 2021-22 Women’s Beanpot with the Eagles. Internationally, Levy won a gold medal as a member of Team USA at the 2023 IIHF Women’s World Championship.
Della Rovere returned to the PWHL in 2025-26 after spending the previous season in Italy. The Caledon, Ontario, native earned a spot as a Toronto reserve out of training camp and split her season between the Sceptres and the Italian National Team in preparation for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. In Milan, the 25-year-old set an Italian record with four points (2G, 2A) and helped the team advance to the quarterfinals — a historic result. Upon returning to Toronto, she appeared in five games. Originally selected by Ottawa in the inaugural PWHL Draft, Della Rovere scored one goal in nine games in 2024 before a season-ending injury. Internationally, the Harvard University graduate helped Italy win bronze at the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship Division I Group A tournament after earning promotion with a first-place finish in Division I Group B in 2025.
On PWHL San Jose, Della Rovere reunites with Head Coach Troy Ryan and former Sceptres forward Maggie Connors. Levy played alongside defenders Hadley Hartmetz and Daniela Pejšová last season in Boston and shared the crease with Corinne Schroeder for two seasons in New York. San Jose’s roster is now up to 12 players under contract, also counting forwards Anne Cherkowski, Natálie Mlýnková, Kristin O’Neill and Maddi Wheeler, plus defenders Rory Guilday and Mariah Keopple, all previously acquired in the first five phases of the PWHL’s Expansion Player Distribution Process.
The team also selected six players in the 2026 PWHL Draft presented by Upper Deck, adding four forwards, one defender, and one goaltender to the organization’s roster on Wednesday.
