SAN JOSE, CA (June 14, 2026) – PWHL San Jose today announced that defender Daniela Pejšová has been signed to a two-year Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Standard Player Agreement ahead of the team’s inaugural 2026-27 season. Pejšová, who was under contract with the Boston Fleet, has a new deal through the 2027-28 campaign and becomes the team’s 10th player and second of two players to be added to complete Phase 4 of the PWHL’s Expansion Player Distribution Process, joining forward and fellow Czech national, Natálie Mlýnková.
Pejšová completed her second PWHL season with the Fleet in 2025-26, recording four points (2G, 2A) in 27 regular-season games and appearing in all four playoff matchups. Across 55 career regular-season games, Pejšová has notched seven points (2G, 5A) since her seventh-overall selection in the second round of the 2024 PWHL Draft, with a pick Boston acquired from New York in the league’s first-ever draft day trade. On the international stage, the 23-year-old from Teplice, Czechia, is a two-time Olympian (2022, 2026) and has competed in six IIHF Women’s World Championships, most notably earning Czechia’s first-ever medals in 2022 and 2023 (both bronze) alongside Mlýnková. At the 2022 tournament, Pejšová was named Best Defender and an All-Star.
On PWHL San Jose, Pejšová reunites with fellow Fleet defender Hadley Hartmetz (Phase 3) and brings the team’s blue line corps to four following the Phase 2 acquisition of Rory Guilday and Phase 3 addition of Mariah Keopple. The team’s roster also includes five forwards with Mlýnková, the Phase 2 additions of Anne Cherkowski, Kristin O’Neill and Maddi Wheeler, and the Phase 3 addition of Maggie Connors. Goaltender Corinne Schroeder was signed in Phase 2 to round out the team’s foundation heading into Wednesday’s PWHL Draft.
At the end of the Phase 4 signing period on Monday, each expansion team will have 10 total players through signings and, if necessary, a player selection process. Players eligible to be signed in Phase 4 are those not signed or protected in Phases 1-3, including players on expiring contracts and players under contract for 2026-27. Existing teams can lose a maximum of four players who are under contract for the 2026-27 season in Phases 1-4.
A complete list of player signings and transactions is available on the official PWHL Transactions Page. To see the full overview of the status of PWHL player contracts, visit the PWHL Contract Guide here.
