The Montréal Victoire hosted two youth development camps over the summer that drew more than 150 attendees from across Canada and the United States.
The first camp ran July 10 and 14 in LaSalle, followed by a three-day session August 20–22 at the Complexe CN, opens in a new tab in Brossard, the Montréal Canadiens’ practice facility. Across both sessions, young athletes had the chance to learn from Victoire staff and players in a high-energy, hands-on setting.
Marin was thrilled to see the campers show up with both excitement and focus. “Even though it was summer and the atmosphere was vacation-like, the young girls were attentive and focused,” Marin said. “They wanted to learn while having fun. They got to be close to our players and coaches. It was magical to see everyone leave with a smile.”
The smiles weren’t limited to Montréal. The Victoire camps attracted families from far beyond the city, including a group who drove in from Vermont for both sessions. One family even traveled from Banff, Alberta, planning their vacation around the July camp so their daughters could take part. That kind of commitment underscored the growing reach of the Victoire brand and the momentum women’s hockey continues to build in Montréal.
Throughout the sessions, the camps struck a balance between skill development and inspiration. Drills focused on fundamentals like skating, puck control and positioning, while coaches also emphasized confidence, teamwork and fun. For the young players, being able to share the ice with Victoire athletes and see firsthand the work and energy that goes into professional hockey was an experience that can stick with them long after the summer.
With strong turnout, passionate coaches, and families traveling across provinces and borders to participate, the Victoire summer camps were a reminder that Montréal's appetite for women’s hockey is thriving and that the bond between the team and its community is only getting stronger.
