Marie-Philip Poulin becomes first PWHL player to score 50 career points

To an almost endless list of individual and team accomplishments achieved during the course of Marie-Philip Poulin’s decorated hockey career you can add one more: she is now the first player in PWHL history with 50 career points.

“Captain Clutch” notched the historic point in last night’s 2025-26 home opener for the Montréal Victoire, a 4-0 shutout over Inaugural Six rival New York.

In appropriate fashion, Poulin scored it on a beautiful goal off a perfect pass from Laura Stacey at the 18:45 mark of the second period.

The 34-year-old Poulin, a three-time Olympic Gold medalist who is an icon across Canada, opens in a new tab, had 23 points in 21 regular-season games in the PWHL’s first season and then scored 26 points in 30 games last year. The dramatic goal against the Sirens marked the 30th goal of her career. Yes, she’s also the first PWHL player to hit that mark!

For good measure, Poulin picked up an assist on Maggie Flaherty's goal late in the game, giving MPP 51 career points and a league-best career points-per-game average of 0.96. On the league’s all-time scoring list, Poulin now has a 7-point lead over Toronto’s Daryl Watts.
