LAS VEGAS, NV (June 15, 2026) – PWHL Las Vegas today announced that forward Katy Knoll has been signed to a two-year Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Standard Player Agreement ahead of the team’s inaugural 2026-27 season. Knoll joins the team with a contract through the 2027-28 campaign and becomes the team’s ninth player and first of two players to be added during Phase 4 of the PWHL’s Expansion Player Distribution Process.
Knoll recorded nine points (7G, 2A) in 30 appearances with the Minnesota Frost in the 2025-26 season, easily surpassing the two points (1G, 1A) she registered in 21 games as a rookie. Knoll’s seven goals ranked sixth on the Frost, as Minnesota racked up a league-record 91 goals as a team. The 25-year-old native of Amherst, NY, has also seen action in 13 playoff games in two seasons, totaling six points (3G, 3A), including two goals and three assists in eight games during the 2025 postseason to share the rookie scoring lead and help the Frost capture the Walter Cup. Knoll was selected by Minnesota with the 39th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2024 PWHL Draft. Prior to her professional career, Knoll skated collegiately at Northeastern University, notching 131 points (61G, 70A) in 177 games across five seasons with the Huskies. On the international stage, Knoll won gold representing the United States at the 2018 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship, followed by a silver medal at the 2019 tournament.
On PWHL Las Vegas, Knoll reunites with three former Minnesota teammates with defenders Mae Batherson and Kendall Cooper signed in Phase 2, and goaltender Nicole Hensley signed in Phase 3 of the expansion process. She is also reunited with two former Northeastern teammates, defender Megan Carter and forward Maureen Murphy, both signed in Phase 3. Knoll is the sixth player to join PWHL Las Vegas with a Walter Cup title in her career along with Batherson (2025) and Hensley (2024 and 2025), and a trio of 2026 Montréal Victoire champions in Murphy, defender Erin Ambrose, and forward Hayley Scamurra.
At the end of today’s Phase 4 signing period, each expansion team will have 10 total players through signings and, if necessary, a player selection process. Players eligible to be signed in Phase 4 are those not signed or protected in Phases 1-3, including players on expiring contracts and players under contract for 2026-27. Existing teams can lose a maximum of four players who are under contract for the 2026-27 season in Phases 1-4.
