HAMILTON, ON – PWHL Hamilton today announced that forward Jade Iginla has signed a one-year Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Standard Player Agreement for the team’s inaugural 2026-27 campaign. Hamilton selected Iginla in the second round (18th overall) in the 2026 PWHL Draft on June 17, adding a proven collegiate scorer and experienced leader to the team’s forward group.
“Jade is exactly the type of player we want as part of the foundation of PWHL Hamilton,” said PWHL Hamilton General Manager Meghan Duggan. “She has demonstrated throughout her time at Brown that she can produce offensively, compete at a high level and, importantly, lead a team. Serving as captain is a tremendous responsibility, and Jade embraced that role while continuing to be one of the team’s top offensive contributors. We’re excited about the skill and competitiveness she brings to our forward group, and we believe she has all the qualities to make an impact in our inaugural season.”
Iginla joins PWHL Hamilton following a highly productive collegiate career at Brown University, recording 99 points (56G, 43A) in 123 games across four seasons. Her best offensive season came as a senior in 2025-26, earning Third Team All-ECAC honours with a career-high 33 points (17G, 16A) in 32 games. In addition to her offensive production, the 21-year-old from Lake Country, BC, served as captain of the Bears, gaining valuable experience leading a collegiate program both on and off the ice. In 2022, Iginla won gold with Team Canada at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship.
“I’m thrilled to officially sign with PWHL Hamilton,” said Iginla. “I’ve heard so much about how passionate PWHL and Hamilton sports fans are, and I’m looking forward to getting to play in front of them. It’s special to be a small part of building this team from the ground up.”
Iginla is the second member of PWHL Hamilton’s inaugural draft class to sign, following first-round pick Nelli Laitinen, who inked a three-year agreement announced Monday. The PWHL Hamilton roster now consists of 16 players under contract, including nine forwards, as the team continues to build ahead of its first PWHL season.
