BOSTON, MA (August 3, 2026) – The Boston Fleet, opens in a new tab announced today that the team has signed its third-round draft pick, defender Leah Stecker, to a three-year Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Standard Player Agreement through the 2028-29 season. Stecker was one of five players and three defenders selected by the Fleet in the 2026 PWHL Draft and is the first of the group to sign ahead of the upcoming campaign.
A native of Randolph, NJ, Stecker was selected 27th overall by Boston on June 17, becoming the second New Jersey-born player drafted in the PWHL and first who played high school hockey in the state. The 22-year-old joins the PWHL following four NCAA seasons at Penn State University, having appeared in 152 career games with 12 goals and 45 assists for 57 points. During her senior season, Stecker produced a career-high 20 points (3G, 17A) in 39 games as an alternate captain, helping the Nittany Lions advance to their first Frozen Four.
Stecker joins a Fleet lineup that now has 18 players under contract for the upcoming season, including fellow defenders Amanda Boulier and Rylind MacKinnon, along with PWHL Defender of the Year Megan Keller and Rookie of the Year Haley Winn. Stecker and Winn are the team's only two players signed through 2028-29.
