WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

This will be the first meeting between the Charge and Victoire this season, the league’s closest rivals. Ottawa had a 3-0-3-5 all-time record against Montréal prior to meeting in the 2025 PWHL Playoffs. The Charge won that series three games to one, with the only loss occurring in overtime at Place Bell on May 11 in the longest game in PWHL history (4OT, 135:33).

Ottawa has won each of its last six games (two OTW, two SOW) after losing five of its first six games of the season, all in regulation. The Charge’s longest winning streak prior to their current run was four games in March to April 2024 (that run included one SOW). Only one team in PWHL history has won more than six consecutive games (Toronto, 11 in 2024) and no team has ever won five straight OT/SO decisions in a season.

Brianne Jenner scored the tying goal on Sunday, her seventh of the season, and also scored in the shootout, her third shootout goal of the season. The Charge captain is on a three-game goal scoring streak (4G) and is tied for second in goals with Kristýna Kaltounková (behind Kendall Coyne Schofield – eight) but leads in shootout goals. Her career point total stands at 47.

Gwyneth Philips returns to the Charge lineup after sitting out the last game in Halifax for rest in the midst of the team’s three games in five days. She was between the pipes for both of Ottawa’s regular season wins against Montréal last season in three starts (.891 SV%), in addition to the playoff series (.956 SV%). She leads the league with 301 saves this season.

Ronja Savolainen, known for her physicality, is one of two Charge defenders without a penalty this season after finishing third on the team with 18 penalty minutes in 2024-25. Ottawa leads the league with 37 minor penalties this season.

Ottawa is tied with New York with six new players who have contributed three or more points this season: Rory Guilday (7), Sarah Wozniewicz (5), Anna Shokhina (4), Peyton Hemp (4), Fanuza Kadirova (3), Brooke Hobson (3). This group represents over 37% of the Charge’s offensive production.

Carla MacLeod has had fun during the Charge’s win streak by leaning into her music tastes with a Reba McEntire shirt for Country Night and shirt for the iconic Anne Murray in Halifax.

The Victoire are undefeated at Place Bell this season (2-1-0-0) and have won four straight regular season games at their primary home venue dating back to last season. In 2024-25, they won five straight at Place Bell from Dec. 30 to Feb. 15 and tied for first in the PWHL with a .622 win percentage in home games. Their current home mark of .733 leads the PWHL.

Montréal’s 1-0 win over Vancouver on Sunday was its second shutout of the season. The Victoire had just one shutout over their two previous seasons in the PWHL.

Ann-Renée Desbiens has been in net for all three of Montréal’s shutouts in team history. Her career 1.90 goals against average is the best in the PWHL all-time (minimum 10 GP). She has not allowed more than two goals in any of her eight starts this season after posting 16 complete games with two or fewer goals against in 2024-25.

Nicole Gosling scored her first career goal, the game-winner, in the Victoire’s win over the Goldeneyes in Québec City on Sunday. The fourth overall pick is riding a three-game point streak (1G, 2A) after being held without a point in her first seven career games.

Marie-Philip Poulin has points in six straight games (4G, 5A) for the league’s longest active point streak. A point tonight would tie the league record of seven straight games set by Alex Carpenter last season with New York. The Victoire captain has also assisted in five straight games, one shy of the record of six games set last week by Frost rookie defender Kendall Cooper.

Lina Ljungblom was one of four PWHL players named to Sweden’s Olympic roster on Monday and will compete in her second games next month in Italy. She returned to the Victoire lineup on Jan. 4 and played a season-high 9:49 in her second game on Sunday.

This matchup features the league’s best penalty kill in Montréal (1-for-28, 96.4%) against the league’s best power play in Ottawa (7-for-35, 20.0%). Montréal has yet to allow a power-play goal at home this season. Meanwhile, Ottawa has a league-best 25.0% power-play percentage in games as the visiting team (4-for-16).

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

“We’re seeing a real team effort right now. There’s still lots of growth to be done, but there’s an investment on that side from the players and the staff. We’re in an industry where you have to find ways to win. There’s lots of different ways to go for that. We didn’t have our best game in Halifax. We hard to earn our way through it and we’ve been finding ways to win in the last stretch. The connection between our players amongst themselves is great. This is a genuine group. We can feel it. It continues to grow every game.” – Charge Head Coach Carla MacLeod

“We are looking to continue building momentum in our game as we head into this game against Ottawa. There were a lot of good things on Sunday, and some things we would like to tweak. We know regardless of which home building we are playing in, our fans will help energize us.” - Victoire Head Coach Kori Cheverie

TUESDAY’S GAME: The Victoire return to Place Bell following Sunday’s Takeover Tour win in Québec City and will face the Charge in a rematch of the 2025 PWHL Playoffs. Including tonight, Montréal will play three home games before the Olympic break. The Victoire will celebrate Women in Action tonight, highlighted by a ceremonial puck drop featuring: Mme Jolyane Ledoux, Lieutenant in charge of territorial surveillance – Gendarmerie sector; Mme Karine Martin, a member of the Montréal Fire Service Honour Guard; Mme Amélie Racine, a member of the Montréal Fire Service Honour Guard; Nicole Juteau, the first female police officer in Québec. The Canadian anthem will be performed by Jennifer Bellerose.
