WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

New York is the only team to miss the playoffs in each of the league’s three seasons and will finish third in the Gold Plan standings that determine draft order of selection among non-playoff teams after earning the top pick the last two seasons. A win today would set a new team record for wins and points.

After going 0-1-1-2 in its first four games against New York, Boston is 7-3-0-0 in its last 10 games against the Sirens. The Fleet’s 10-game winning streak in the series is the longest in PWHL history by one team against another. Two of New York’s four shutout losses this season have come against Boston.

The Sirens beat the Sceptres, 1-0, in overtime in Toronto on Tuesday, the fifth straight road game where New York has scored only one goal. It was the second regular-season game ever to finish 1-0 in overtime – the other was also a Sirens win over the Sceptres on Jan. 12, 2025, on a goal by current Fleet forward Jessie Eldridge. There have been two 1-0 overtime games in PWHL postseason history, the last of which was won by Boston on a 2OT goal by Alina Müller in Minnesota in Game 4 of the PWHL Walter Cup Finals on May 26, 2024.

Allyson Simpson scored the overtime winner Tuesday, joining Montréal’s Nicole Gosling as the only PWHL defenders with OT goals this season. Her third goal of the season leads all Sirens defenders and made her the second New York rearguard with an OT goal all-time, joining Maja Nylén Persson, the team’s defensive points leader (11), who scored one on Mar. 12, 2025.

Sarah Fillier and Casey O’Brien, the two highest scoring rookies in league history, both earned assists on Tuesday. Fillier is two points away from becoming the first player with consecutive seasons of 25 or more points. O’Brien (22) and her fellow Sirens rookies lead the league with a combined 62 points, with Fleet rookies ranking second with 47 points.

Kayle Osborne has five career shutouts, tied with former Siren Corinne Schroeder for the most in a goaltender’s first two PWHL seasons. She has a 1.97 GAA and .923 SV% this season against Boston, despite three losses.

Kristin O’Neill has not scored in 13 games since her power play marker on Jan. 28 at the Tsongas Center but is 12 faceoffs away from becoming the first Siren to 500. O’Brien is 18 faceoffs away from becoming the first-ever rookie to 500.

Boston can secure first place with a regulation win combined with a loss of any kind by Montréal, or an OT/SO win combined with a Montréal regulation loss. The first-place team will select their playoff opponent, choosing between Minnesota and whoever claims fourth place between Ottawa and Toronto.

The Fleet’s 2-1 overtime loss to Ottawa on Wednesday was their league-high 16th game this season decided by one goal or in overtime/shootout. The only team in PWHL history to have more such games is Montréal last season (18). Boston has not lost three consecutive games all season and a regulation win would make them the first-ever to earn 30 points in games played both in and outside of their state or province.

Megan Keller had an assist Wednesday to give her 13 and 20 points on the season. She’s one of three Fleet with 20+ points and three with 13+ assists in 2025-26 (Müller - 21/17, Eldridge – 21PTS, Haley Winn – 14A) after the team had one such skater in either of their first two seasons (Hilary Knight 29/14 in 2024-25). The captain is two points shy of tying the single-season record for a defender (22 by Renata Fast and Sophie Jaques) and two shy of 50 for her career, playing in every game in team history alongside Hannah Brandt and Jamie Lee Rattray.

Müller is in a four-way tie for the league lead in assists, already a new single-season record with three Frost forwards and has assists on five of Eldridge’s13 goals and Keller’s seven. The Fleet alternate captain is three faceoff wins away from 250 and her 63.7% efficiency at the dot is the highest in league history.

Ella Huber has three goals and two have been game-winners against New York. Liz Schepers (2G) and Rattray (1G, 1A) also have multiple points against the Sirens, part of career-high seasons for the veteran forwards. Winn has two assists in the season series and enters the day in a three-way tie for the scoring lead among rookie defenders (18 points).

Aerin Frankel has three of her season’s 18 wins and two of her seven shutouts against New York (0.97 GAA, .966 SV%). Both are tied for single-season records with Ann-Renée Desbiens.

Boston has scored first in 22 games this season, the most in a single regular season in PWHL history. New York has allowed the first goal in 19 games, the third most in any season in PWHL history (Seattle and Vancouver – 21 each this season).

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

“We’ve had our ups and downs, but I think we all feel like we’re playing our best hockey right now. Unfortunately, we don’t have any runway left to capitalize on that momentum. That belief though is motivating us to finish things off the way we know we can and give our fans something to be excited for heading into next season.” – Sirens Captain Micah Zandee-Hart

“We want to play a very structured team game and feel really good about ourselves going into the playoffs. Regardless of where we finish, we can’t be in control of Montréal or what happens in Seattle. We can only control how we address this last regular-season game and play a very compact, connected game. We clinched home ice, we’re playing good hockey, that’s all we can ask for.” – Fleet Head Coach Kris Sparre

SATURDAY’S GAME: A new PWHL single day attendance record will be set on the final day of the 2025-26 regular season, with this being the first puck drop on a jam-packed four-game day with all eight teams in action for just the second time in league history. The last time all eight teams played on the same day was Jan. 28, also the last time Boston hosted New York at the Tsongas Center right before the Olympic break. It’s Fleet Fan Appreciation today and the first 3,000 fans through the doors will receive an exclusive Barbie™ x Fleet Belt Bag. In partnership with Triumph Together, eight-year-old Leukemia survivor, Avery Callagy, will be participating in a ceremonial puck drop after walking into the Tsongas Center wearing matching shoes with Fleet Captain Megan Keller. Fans can also explore activations from Lowell Spinners, learn more about the Fleet’s upcoming hockey clinics, and take part in the popular sign-making station presented by Midea. While their opponent is still to be determined by today’s action, the Fleet know they will open the 2026 PWHL Walter Cup Playoffs with home games in Lowell on Thursday, Apr. 30 and next Saturday, May 2.
