WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Both teams have five-game multi-goal winning streaks and one team will be the first to 20 wins in a single season. Boston won the first two games this season in regulation at the Tsongas Center and in overtime in Montréal where they erased a 3-0 third-period deficit. Eight of their 12 all-time games have gone to extra time, the most in any PWHL matchup in league history.
TD Garden will be the ninth different venue with an NHL tenant where Montréal will play a game this regular season, most in the PWHL. After losing their first four games in NHL buildings in regulation (Seattle, Montréal, New Jersey, Washington) the Victoire have won five of their last six (Minnesota twice, New Jersey, Detroit, Ottawa) with an overtime loss (Winnipeg) and have outscored their opponents 9-1 in the last three.
The Victoire beat the Torrent, 4-1, at home on Tuesday to extend their record point streak to 14 games since Jan. 21 (10-2-2-0). It was their ninth win this season by at least three goals, tied with Minnesota for most in the league. No other team has more than four such wins.
Laura Stacey is riding a four-game point streak (2G, 3A) and has back-to-back 20-point seasons, two points shy of her career high. The Victoire alternate captain has 10 points (5G, 5A) in her last 10 games since Mar. 1 and is seven shots away from tying her own single-season record of 112.
Lina Ljungblom had the first multi-assist game of her PWHL career on Tuesday. She had just one assist in her first 16 games this season, which came as part of her only other multi point game (1G, 1A on Feb. 26 at New York).
Abby Roque leads the Victoire with three points in two games against the Fleet (1G, 2A) and became the 12th player to 50 career PWHL points with an assist against Seattle. Rookie defender Nicole Gosling got her first multi-point game (2A) in the season series and has points in six straight road games.
Ann-Renée Desbiens has surrendered four goals just twice in her PWHL career, both to Boston (Mar. 15 and May 4, 2024). Her 1.13 GAA leads the league and her 16 wins, six shutouts, and .954 SV% are right behind Aerin Frankel’s 17 wins, seven shutouts, and .955 SV%.
Boston has won eight of its nine home games, excluding Takeover Tour games, and lead the league with a .852 points percentage on home ice, just ahead of Montréal’s .833 mark in non-Takeover Tour home games. With a win, the Fleet would become the first PWHL team to win a home game at three different venues in a single season (excluding Takeover Tour).
The Fleet beat the Goldeneyes, 5-1, in a Takeover Tour game in Edmonton Tuesday. Boston has won two of its last three games by four goals (4-0 over Toronto on Mar. 27) after one such win in team history prior (4-0 at New York on Feb. 12, 2025).
Jessie Eldridge has three goals and a +1 rating in her last three games, scoring twice Tuesday, after no points and a -2 rating in her first three games with the Fleet. One of her Tuesday goals was on the power-play, the ninth PPG of her career, tied for the most all-time (Natalie Spooner, Laura Stacey).
Megan Keller leads the season series with four points (2G, 2A), followed by co-team scoring leaders Susanna Tapani (2G, 1A) and Alina Müller (3A). Tapani is one career point shy of 50 and has goals in two straight home games. Sophie Shirley (3G, 2A) and Jamie Lee Rattray (1G, 2A) have three-game point streaks.
Fleet rookies Mia Biotti (Cambridge, MA), and Abby Newhook went head-to-head twice at TD Garden in the Women’s Beanpot consolation, including its venue debut on Jan. 23, 2024. Newhook had an assist for Boston College despite a 3-2 shootout loss. Skylar Irving (Kingston MA), scored twice for Northeastern to claim the 2024 Beanpot title 2-1 over Boston University and Victoire teammates Tamara Giaquinto and Nadia Mattivi, then scored a goal and an assist in the Huskies 4-0 title win in 2025 before a crowd of 13,279.
Liz Schepers is living out a piece of history as her maternal grandfather, Murray Oliver, was a five-time NHL All-Star for the Boston Bruins. The two spent countless hours watching hockey together and Liz learned firsthand what it means to be a good teammate by watching him maintain lifelong NHL friendships.
Both teams are on record pace with the success of their penalty kill units with Montréal (93.2%) allowing just five PPG and Boston (91.3%) allowing just six PPG against.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
“Finishing in first place is not the most important thing right now. Of course we want home-ice advantage, but above all we want to make sure we’re playing well. Obviously, we want to win, but we’re more focused on the process than on the result.”
- Victoire goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens
“We’re not surprised to be playing in front of a sold-out TD Garden. Having played in this city now for three years, the sports culture is unbelievable. These fans support their teams loud and proud and this game is going to be incredibly special for our group finally getting to play at TD Garden. The game itself is going to come down to little details. I know it’s a bit cliché, but it’s honestly the way it is this time of year. Last time we played Montréal was obviously a crazy game, so there’s going to be a lot of emotion and high energy. We want to enjoy the moment, but most importantly take care of what we need to take care of here.” – Fleet Alternate Captain Jamie Lee Rattray
SATURDAY’S GAME: All eyes will be on the Fleet and Victoire in a battle for first place in the PWHL standings in the first-ever professional women’s hockey game at Boston’s historic TD Garden. The sold-out game, presented by Bentley University, comes one week after the PWHL set a U.S. arena record for a women’s hockey game with a sold-out crowd of 18,006 at the iconic Madison Square Garden on Apr. 4. TD Garden becomes one of 35 venues to host a PWHL game all-time, including one of 21 venues with a current NHL team. Fans can join the Fleet’s pre-game party with the Sports Bra of Boston beginning at 4:30 p.m. ET at The Greatest Bar, then enjoy a pre-game DJ on the Causeway, along with special activations and photo opportunities throughout the arena concourse with Bauer and Bentley University, plus a sign-making station presented by Midea. The Fleet are proud to welcome Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova, who plays Svetlana Vetrova in the hit TV show Heated Rivalry, to deliver the team’s starting lineup read. Hockey Hall of Famer and Bruins legend Zdeno Chára, who captained Boston for 14 NHL seasons and led the team to a 2011 Stanley Cup title, will perform the ceremonial puck drop. Also in attendance tonight are the participants of the PWHL’s Fantasy Camp following two days of training like the pros at Boston Sports Institute alongside the likes of Kacey Bellamy, Tessa Bonhomme, Emma Buckles, Jillian Dempsey, Meghan Duggan, Courtney Kennedy and Gigi Marvin. Part of the experience is a Legends Pre-Game Panel at TD Garden before puck drop. The Fleet and Victoire will meet one more time following tonight’s game on Apr. 17 at Place Bell.
