WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
The PWHL returns to Rogers Place for the third time and second this season. Both previous games were decided in overtime, including Minnesota over Vancouver, 2-1, on Dec. 27, 2025, and Toronto over Ottawa, 3-2, on Feb. 16, 2025. All seven Takeover Tour games in Canada this season have been decided by one goal, including two in overtime and three in a shootout.
The Fleet have won three of their four games against the Goldeneyes this season, but Vancouver’s lone win was in a Takeover Tour game (Jan. 3 in Detroit). The Fleet have lost both of their Takeover Tour games this season (0-0-1-1), the other was a shootout loss to Ottawa in Halifax.
The Goldeneyes have lost three of four games on this current road trip. They have a Takeover Tour record of 2-0-1-1 with a regulation win over Seattle in Denver and a regulation loss to Montréal in Québec City. They have more Takeover Tour wins this season (two) than true road wins (one) in opposing team home markets. Vancouver is one behind Montréal and Ottawa for the most Takeover Tour wins this season.
Boston owns a four-game winning streak, with each win being by multiple goals. It is their second-longest win streak by multiple goals this season (their first five games of 2025-26 were all multi-goal wins). The Fleet have 10 multi-goal wins this season after 10 total in the first two seasons combined.
Emerance Maschmeyer (Bruderheim) is one of seven PWHL Albertans. One of her five wins this season was against Boston with a 2.55 GAA and .914 SV% in two games of the season series. She also won in Denver and in Toronto on Mar. 29 this season but is winless in two career PWHL games in Edmonton.
Aerin Frankel has posted three straight shutout victories and has not allowed a goal in 191:01. She has played all four games of the season series with a 1.25 GAA and .951 SV%. The U.S. Olympic gold medalist turned aside 23/24 shots at Rogers Place back on Dec. 13 in a 4-1 Rivalry Series victory.
Sophie Shirley will have close to 30 friends and family members attending her first PWHL game near her hometown of Saskatoon, SK. She’s playing the best hockey of her PWHL career with consecutive multi-point games (3G, 1A) and, to celebrate, took part in a lululemon activation in Edmonton, picking out a complimentary outfit for her gameday walk-in.
Sarah Nurse will play her first game at Rogers Place after missing Vancouver’s first visit this season and Toronto’s Takeover Tour game last season due to injury. Her cousin, Darnell Nurse, stars for the Edmonton Oilers. The Goldeneyes alternate captain scored the first of Vancouver’s five goals against Minnesota on Saturday, her sixth of the season, for 11 points this season and 48 for her career (23G, 25A).
Hannah Miller is also approaching the 50-point milestone after recording two assists Saturday to bring her career total to 49 (20G, 29A) in 77 games. She leads the season series with four points in four games (2G, 2A).
Megan Keller (6G, 11A) and rookie Haley Winn (4G, 12A) are first and second, respectively, among PWHL defenders in points this season. Their combined 33 points are the third most by any duo of defensive teammates in PWHL history behind current Goldeneyes Sophie Jaques and Claire Thompson (40 last season with the Frost) and the Sirens’ Ella Shelton and Jaime Bourbonnais (34 in 2024). Winn is riding a four-game point streak (2G, 4A) and recorded an assist at Rogers Place as a member of Team USA during the Rivalry Series on Dec. 13.
Jaques leads all PWHL defenders with seven goals this season, one shy of the PWHL single-season record for defenders (Ella Shelton had eight last season). Her 16 career goals are also one shy of Shelton for the most in PWHL history by a defender (17). She had a season-high three points on Saturday (1G, 2A) and her 89 shots on goal rank second. Thompson also had a three-point game Saturday (3A) and is just the third defender in PWHL history with multiple seasons of 15 or more points (Keller and Shelton).
Stefanie McKeough serves as the Fleet’s Interim Head Coach while Kris Sparre is away with his family. He and wife Steph welcomed their second child, Quinn Callie Sparre, on Apr. 3.
Maschmeyer and fellow Goldeneyes goaltenders Kristen Campbell and Kim Newell took part in a youth clinic yesterday along with Fleet forwards Hannah Brandt and Liz Schepers.
Edmonton native and former Boston defender, Jess Healey, will read the starting lineup pre-game. She had two goals and two assists in 30 total games with the team during the inaugural season, prior to her retirement from hockey.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
“Each Takeover Tour stop is really exciting, but this one is especially cool for me personally since this is the closest I get to play to home. Driving through Alberta really feels like home for me and I'm excited to share this moment with so many people that have helped me get here.” – Fleet forward Sophie Shirley
“Being here in Edmonton is incredibly special. To bring women's hockey out west, not only to Vancouver, but also to my hometown where my grassroots are, it means a lot to me, and I hope that we can inspire young females to continue to play hockey or get into hockey.” – Goldeneyes goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer
TUESDAY’S GAME: The DoorDash PWHL Takeover Tour™ presented by Explore Edmonton between Boston and Vancouver marks the 16th and final stop of this season’s Tour. Edmonton is one of five markets to host multiple Takeover Tour games this season along with Chicago, Denver, Detroit and Halifax, and its three all-time games ties Denver for second-most behind Detroit’s four. The province of Alberta has hosted four games, including tonight, and counting the 15th stop of this season’s Tour played in Calgary last Wednesday before a Scotiabank Saddledome crowd of 16,150. Last season’s sold-out game in Edmonton between the Charge and Sceptres with 17,518 fans stands as the ninth-highest attended game in PWHL history. Rogers Place is one of 34 venues, including 20 with current NHL teams, to host a PWHL game all-time, with both of those numbers to increase by one on Saturday when Boston hosts Montréal for the first time at TD Garden. The PWHL has partnered with the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation and local nonprofits, including Free Play for Kids and HEROS Hockey, for today’s game to promote gender equity and empower the next generation of female leaders by offering access to live women's sports experiences.
