The Toronto Sceptres Asian Heritage Unity Game is designed to celebrate the diverse cultures, histories, and contributions of Asian communities across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. Through music, dance, martial arts, visual art, and storytelling, the night centers cultural expression and community connection while highlighting local artists and organizations. Programming is thoughtfully integrated throughout the game experience and developed with respect for the breadth of Asian identities and traditions.

Erika is a Filipino artist whose work reflects her values and passions as a proud daughter of Filipino immigrants. Her creative practice centers storytelling through heritage and culture while uplifting youth, queer, and marginalized communities.

As part of the Asian Heritage Celebration Unity Game, Erika’s artwork will be featured as a fan giveaway, with custom postcards distributed as an entrance giveaway. This activation celebrates Asian creativity and ensures fans leave the game with a tangible piece of cultural storytelling connected to the night.

  • South Asian Hockey Association

    The South Asian Hockey Association (SAHA) is a not-for-profit organization advancing inclusion, representation, and opportunity for South Asian athletes in hockey. Through mentorship, development programs, tournaments, and community outreach, SAHA works to reduce barriers to participation and increase visibility for South Asian communities within the sport. SAHA will be spotlighted during the Asian Heritage Unity Game through an in-arena PA and jumbotron callout recognizing their impact and ongoing work.

  • Shaolin Cultural Centre of Canada

    The Shaolin Cultural Centre of Canada is a martial arts and cultural training organization rooted in the traditions of Shaolin Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and Qigong. Emphasizing discipline, philosophy, and physical expression, the Institute preserves and shares centuries-old practices through education and performance. Their participation in the Unity Game includes a live kung fu demonstration and storytelling performance during first intermission.

Pre-Game Programming

  • Anthem Performance: Toronto-based Chinese singer-songwriter Ann Chau will perform the national anthem, bringing her voice and artistry to open the Asian Heritage Unity Game. Her performance highlights music as a powerful form of cultural expression and storytelling.

Shaolin Temple Quanfa Institute – Kung Fu Demonstration & Storytelling: A performance blending martial arts, philosophy, and cultural storytelling, highlighting the discipline and heritage behind Shaolin traditions.
