SEATTLE, WA (October 21, 2026) – The Seattle Torrent today announced that defender Sydney Morrow has been signed to a two-year Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Standard Player Agreement through the 2027-28 season. Selected in the second round, 14th overall in the 2026 PWHL Draft, Morrow was the second of six players chosen by the Torrent in the six-round process on June 17 and is the second member of the team’s draft class to sign ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Morrow completed her junior and senior collegiate seasons at the University of Minnesota from 2024-26, having played her freshman year at Ohio State University (2022-23) and sophomore year at Colgate University (2023-24). She earned CCM/AHCA Second Team All-American and All-WCHA Second Team honors and was named a top three finalist for WCHA Defender of the Year in her final year with the Gophers. The 22-year-old from Stamford, CT ranked third nationally among defenders in the 2025-26 NCAA season with 38 points and second with 30 assists, while her plus-33 rating and 57 shot blocks both ranked second on her team. She recorded 10 multi-point games throughout the season and added five assists in the first round of the 2026 WCHA Playoffs.
Internationally, Morrow was named to the Team USA roster for the 2024 IIHF Women's World Championship and also won a silver medal at the 2022 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship. She will be competing to represent the U.S. at the 2026 Women's Worlds with training camp scheduled for Oct. 23-30 in Plymouth, MI.
With the signing, the Torrent now have 18 players under contract of the 28 invited to next month's training camp. Morrow is one of six signed defenders alongside Emily Brown, Lyndie Lobdell, Noemi Neubauerová, Aneta Tejralová and Anna Wilgren. Forward Abbey Murphy, the team's second overall draft pick, signed a two-year contract in September.
