NEW YORK (September 30, 2026) - The New York Sirens today announced that forward Casey O’Brien has been re-signed to a two-year Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Standard Player Agreement through the 2027-28 season. O’Brien was one of the team’s three protections in Phase 1 of the PWHL’s Expansion Player Distribution Process following a standout rookie campaign.
"I am so excited to be a Siren for the next two years," said O'Brien. "I want to win, and I want to win here in New York. I believe in what we’re building here, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to help create a championship caliber team and culture. I’m counting down the days until we’re back at The Rock (Prudential Center). Let’s go, Sirens!"
The Manhattan native and third overall pick in the 2025 PWHL Draft quickly established herself as a rising PWHL star, leading all first-year players in scoring with 22 points (7G, 15A) in 28 games while ranking fifth in average time on ice among rookies. The 25-year-old earned recognition as a finalist for the 2026 PWHL Rookie of the Year award and was named to the PWHL All-Rookie Team. Prior to the PWHL, O’Brien won the 2025 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, was a three-time NCAA National Champion, and graduated as the highest-scoring player in University of Wisconsin Badgers history.
O’Brien becomes the 19th player under contract, including 10 forwards, and is one of 10 players on the Sirens roster signed beyond next season.
