The Germans returned to the ice Monday morning as they took on bottom-of-the-table France in Group B. Despite the one-sided affair, Germany was only able to beat French netminder Alice Philbert once in regulation. The lone goal came off the stick of Boston Fleet forward Laura Kluge, her second goal and fifth point of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The Germans outshot the French 47–14, but Philbert stood tall in net to ensure the points would be shared at Milano Rho Ice Hockey Arena. Vancouver Goldeneyes defender Nina Jobst-Smith scored the game-winning overtime goal to secure the extra point for Germany, her second tally of the tournament.
With Italy winning their matchup in regulation earlier in the day, Germany falls to third place in Group B, one point back of their Italian foes. They will have a chance to reclaim their spot when they face Italy on Tuesday at 10:40 a.m. ET in each nation’s final preliminary-round match. France picked up a point in the overtime loss, ensuring they do not finish the tournament pointless.
