Italy got their Olympic campaign off to a strong start with a 4–1 win over France. Goals from Kayla Tutino, Rebecca Roccella, Matilde Fantin, and Toronto Sceptres’ Kristin Della Rovere sealed the game for the hosts. Della Rovere finished with two points on the night, adding an assist on Roccella’s second-period goal. Italy was the last team at Milano Cortina 2026 to announce its roster, selecting Della Rovere as its lone PWHL representative.
The result brings Italy even with Sweden in the Group B standings, after the Swedes won their opening match over Germany by the same 4–1 score earlier this morning. Italy will face Sweden at 8:40 a.m. ET on Saturday for a chance to take the top spot in Group B. France will look to bounce back on Friday at 6:10 a.m. ET against Japan.
