TORONTO, ON (February 7, 2024) – The conclusion of the 2023-24 Rivalry Series will be decided by Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) talent. A total of 49 PWHL players – 25 on the U.S. National Women’s Team and 24 on Canada’s National Women’s Team – are listed on rosters for the final three games of the seven-game series. This month’s action takes place Feb. 7 at 7:00 p.m. CT in Saskatoon, SK, Feb. 9 at 7:00 p.m. CT in Regina, SK, and Feb. 11 at 1:00 p.m. CT in Saint Paul, MN. Live coverage of all three games is available on TSN and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the United States.
Twenty-four PWHL players have competed in the first four games of the series in November and December, and another 10 players return to action after being part of one previous leg of the event. For Canada, veterans Victoria Bach (Toronto), Natalie Spooner (Toronto), and Micah Zandee-Hart (New York) will all wear the maple leaf for the first time this season, while Maggie Connors (Toronto) and Sophie Shirley (Boston) will make their Senior National Team debuts. On the American side, Kendall Coyne Schofield (Minnesota) headlines a group of players returning to wear the red, white, and blue for the first time this season along with veterans Emily Brown (Boston), Jesse Compher (Toronto), Clair DeGeorge (Minnesota), Kali Flanagan (Toronto), and Maureen Murphy (Montréal). Madison Bizal (Montréal), Maggie Flaherty (Minnesota), Brittyn Fleming (Minnesota), and Taylor Girard (Boston) are set to make their National Team debuts.
The United States leads the series 3-1 following a 3-1 victory on Nov. 8 in Tempe, AZ, a 5-2 win on Nov. 11 in Los Angeles, CA, and a 3-2 overtime win on Dec. 14 in Kitchener, ON. Canada won the most recent matchup 3-2 in a shootout on Dec. 16 in Sarnia, ON. In 25 all-time Rivalry Series games since 2018-19, the United States leads with a 13-12 record.
Toronto leads all PWHL teams with 10 players on February’s Rivalry Series rosters, followed by Minnesota with nine players, Boston, New York, and Ottawa with eight players each, and Montréal with six players competing.
