Kristen Campbell, from Brandon, Manitoba, attended the University of North Dakota before the program was unexpectedly cut. She then transferred to the University of Wisconsin, where she captured a NCAA Championship. After graduating in 2020, Campbell joined the PWHPA and, in 2022, she earned an Olympic Gold Medal with Team Canada.
Maggie Connors spent all her NCAA career as a Princeton University Tiger after having moved away from her hometown of St. John’s, Newfoundland as a teenager to attend Shattuck St. Mary’s.
It’s time to get to know more about our goalie and rookie forward!
Who is the first person you call after a game and why?
Campbell: If my parents aren't at the game, I will call them, and my partner who lives in Victoria, BC. They are my biggest supporters.
Connors: The first person I call after games is usually my mom. She loves watching and remembers every play, so she loves to debrief the game just as much as I do sometimes.
What was your favourite subject in school and why?
Campbell: In middle school it was gym. In college it was sports psych—I have my degree in rehab psychology.
Connors: My favourite subject in school was probably math. I’m honestly not sure why, but I’ve always just enjoyed it more than other subjects that require a lot of memorization.
Which teammate would you trust to drive your car?
Campbell: Rouge (Rougeau) because she's my roomie. She is very trustworthy and responsible.
Connors: Emma Maltais! I drive with her every day to the rink, and she trusts me driving her car, so I have to pick her. Plus, she’s a great city driver, so she can borrow my car any day.
What is your favourite restaurant in Toronto?
Campbell: King Rustic. My favourite dish to order there is the salmon dinner.
Connors: I haven’t tried too many just yet but, so far, I’d have to say Mildred’s Temple Kitchen for brunch. Their blueberry pancakes are so good — highly, highly recommend!
What is your go-to pump up song?
Campbell: Cinderella Man by Eminem and I'm Goin' In by Drake.
Connors: My go to is always Run This Town (feat. Rihanna and Kanye West) by Jay-Z.
