Czechia’s two first-period goals proved enough to outlast Finland in a low-scoring bout between the two European nations. Montréal Victoire forward Natálie Mlýnková was among the goal scorers, netting her second of the tournament late in the opening frame. Finland outshot the Czechs 25–24, but Czechia goaltender Klára Pešlarová turned aside every shot sent her way, earning her first shutout of the tournament.
With the win, Czechia jumps into second place in Group A, leapfrogging Canada, who have two games in hand. The Czechs’ four points trail only the United States, who sit atop the group with six. Finland remains at the bottom of the table with zero points and a minus-seven goal differential.
Czechia will look to carry the momentum forward tomorrow when they return to the ice against Canada at 3:10 PM ET. Finland will have a day off following back-to-back games over the past two days and will resume play on Tuesday at 3:10 PM ET against Switzerland.
