ALINA MÜLLER AND SWITZERLAND PULL OFF THE COMEBACK WIN IN THE SHOOTOUT, TOPPING CZECHIA 4–3

Two points for Boston Fleet’s Alina Müller as she got off to a hot start in Milano Cortina, helping lead Switzerland to a comeback victory over Czechia. PWHL leading goal scorer Kristýna Kaltounková of the New York Sirens got things started early for Team Czechia with a goal just a minute and a half into the game, her first career Olympic goal. That lead eventually grew to a 3–1 advantage over the Swiss.

Czechia, playing on the second day of a back-to-back, was however unable to hold on as late goals from Müller and Lara Christen tied the game up at three. Nothing separated the two sides in overtime, but after eight rounds in the shootout, Switzerland’s Ivana Wey was able to put the puck past Czechia goaltender Michaela Hesová to end the contest. Switzerland move up to second in Group A with the two points while Czechia one point has them in third.

The Swiss team will be back in action tomorrow as they take on one of the tournament favorites in Canada at 3:10 PM ET. Czechia will get a much-deserved break before they return to the ice at 3:10 PM ET on Sunday against Finland.
