Abbey Murphy brings a different kind of electricity to the 2026 PWHL Draft. The University of Minnesota forward has been one of the NCAA’s most prolific scorers, leading the country in points per game in 2025-26 while also helping the United States win Olympic gold in Milano Cortina 2026 with seven points in seven games.
Murphy is a proud Chicagoland native you can learn more about in her 2026 Draft Prospects Video:
Murphy plays on the front foot. She attacks with speed, hunts pucks aggressively, and forces defenders into uncomfortable decisions. Her shot is a major weapon, but so is the edge in her game: she thrives in traffic, embraces contact, and has the confidence to try plays few others would attempt...including some that have gone viral, opens in a new tab.
Murphy was on Jocks Next Gen in late 2025 and broke down her path to falling in love with the sport:
Murphy spent a total of six years at Minnesota, playing five seasons, and brings a maturity along with her passing skills and goal-scoring touch. She projects as a high-level forward who will get selected early in the 2026 PWHL Draft and should immediately raise a team’s pace and scoring ceiling.
